This past weekend I went on what's become our semi-annual trip to the Chowan River. I had just a couple of days to get my boat ready beforehand, but I accomplished most of what I had in mind to do. The weekend was absolutely beautiful, low seventies, low humidity, full sun. The fishing however, was difficult. Where we usually catch nice bass, all we found were pike and bowfin. A few nice crappie were found on some brushpiles and we caught catfish on my new noodle rigs.
The hurricanes missed us and once again the Oak Island Classic was a success. I provided the copper trophies, t-shirts, and limited edition prints for the raffles. No, I didn't win, but I did catch flounder, and way too many lizardfish. Check out the NCKFA. The most exciting aspect of it is they're consistently catching nice king mackerel and citation size drum in the ocean division of the tournament. What's even better is they're a good group of people who love friendly
